Long Time No See

久しぶり!HISA-SHI BURI!

Sorry, it's been a hot minute since I have had a chance to write. As you all my know Igot my mini-studio up and running. I also took the week before last off from kickboxing because of my knee. It still hasn't healed 100% so I am going to go to a sports doctor next month. The good thing is that I am able to train but not able to run because that is what seems to aggravate it (bending it hurts as well.) I hope I don't need surgery but it seems likely that it might be the case.

Albeit that I am hurt I feel good. It's only been 6 months but I am sure I could kick my ass from six months ago. I am finally dropping weight to the point where I am noticing it. Eating late isn't an issue now either. However, I find it very hard to be healthy when I chill with other people but whatevs.

Besides training I have just been learning the music software as well as studying audio engineering. It is very similar to music theory but waaaay more useful. I don't understand way it wasn't taught hand in hand in high school.

Well, that's pretty much it. Since I won't be having a fight in the near future I am going to put this blog on the back burner and post once a month. HOWEVER, I am going to start a new blog dealing with the music. Although, I haven't decided what approach I am going to take yet with my album. I had an idea but it kind of fizzled out because it is controversial ( see: shit that is too real and in your face that no body wants to talk about even though it is relevant) so I am back at the drawing board. I am also scarping the name "Manny Marx" and saving it for another day. All I will say is, it will be better to gather an audience first and then say what I have to say later.

Ummmm... after that I am exited to see some good friends go back home and take on different adventures. I might even be more exited than they are.

Well, the next time I post it will most likely be in the new blog with a different tone.

KNEE LOADING.... LOADING... LOADING...

Knee is still jacked up so I am just lifting weights and shadow boxing. I cut down on my meals as well. It's actually pretty easy because I am not training as hard as I used to. My apatite is pretty much gone.

In the mean time I have been making music with this:

until my MacBook Pro gets here. I just got a mail last night saying it was being shipped so I am excited. You know what's crazy, though? Just about EVERY if not ALL the electronic devices I have purchased on-line have been shipped from China... maybe once it was Taiwan. It's amazing. Get this, when I copped my iPhone the box said:

"Designed in California"
"Made in China"

WTF is that?! So like a group of, I don't know, 10 people designed the iPhone / Casing and China made millions of them... probably employing hundreds of people. Psssh, California needs those jobs right about now. Whatevs.

In the training dept...

I have to go back to the doctor and see if I can get an MRI of my knee. It's not really healing as fast as I had hoped. Sucks, I was loving training through out the week. I hope it's not too serious and just needs some more time to heal. I can't front though I am looking forward to staying at home, making music, and learning how to record and mix.. I really want to start recording people ASAP. I need the practice and that shit is mad fun.

I'll post pics of my set up when it's complete.

I'll be posting up some ideas and stuff on my soundcloud.com account: HIROTSU

じゃあ、'till next week.

Oh shout out to my partner in kickboxing crime, Brian!

Rose Colored Glasses

楽観的な考え方

Sorry for not posting on Tuesday I was pretty tired. We ended up taking a new running route which had a crazy-ass long and steep incline. It. Was. Killer. Usually I am able to keep up with Brian but this time I was left in the dust. A harsh reminder on how far I have to go.

This is a doughnut filled with ham-wrapped tuna and mayo.
Yesterday was pretty brutal as well. The gym was packed and was MADD HOT. I guess since I didn't get a chance to eat a good dinner so I was really beat.

That reminds me, I fell out of the habit of recording what I eat last week...I gotta start that up. I guess the reason I did so is because I am pretty much in a routine so it's just a lot of days writing the same shit.

Speaking of food, I have decided to not do Saturday cheat days because they kind of bleed into Sunday as well. So these next two weeks I am going to not have cheat weekends and see how it goes.

Ok, Back to training... today was just soccer with the students. It was pretty iight. We did drills and then played a mini game. It was fun and tiring but not kickbox tiring and a little more fun.
This weekend a member from our gym has a pretty big fight coming up on Saturday. Brian, マット (aka Masato), and I will be corner men. The guy guy fighting, Tanaka, is looking good. His opponent is ranked #1 in his organization and from the DVD I watched of his fight he is a good fighter. However, I think Tanaka will bless his with an elbow. Unfortunately, this will not be a title fight because they belong to different organizations but if Tanaka wins it will look good for him and our gym.

Sunday, Nayalan, Li, Johnny, and Brian will get some D&D action on at Nayalan's crib. It should be entertaining to say the least. The geek will be ON.

Drunk at home. Don't remember this pic nor who took it with my phone.
Let's see what else...

At the end of the month my good friend Clark will be coming back to Japan to do a summer internship at a law firm in Tokyo. He will be crashing at my place for a few days before he heads down there. Hopefully he will have the time and やる気 to train at the gym! (Let's do it bro!) and do a little drinking.

Aside from that I am just getting ready to start on my home studio (drop some ¥EN ... (T_T) It's gonna be a busy yet creative and broke summer.

Oh, and I have been thinking of moving to Vermont for some reason. Weird thing is that it's not the first time I have. Before coming to Japan I was looking at gradschool programs and jobs there. I couldn't find shit though. Probably even worse now, eh?

Well, that's it for now. I am gonna get some long awaited gaming in toniiiight!

Peace

After Thought...

I had a random 飲み会 at my house last Saturday. It was prompted by my friend Makoto random visit. He just stopped by my place in the afternoon and then we made a plan to drink at my house. This past weekend also happened to be the weekend when my boy Stephen wanted to film a party scene for his new short film. So, we ended up having a small party.
Yo, Makoto brought by these NEXT FUCKING LEVEL fried chicken wings. They were so doooope. Get this! Everyone was shocked that I was eating the whole chick wing. You know bone and all. I can't be the only person who does that... can I? I swear my dad does it too, like maybe it's a Jamaican thing... or a possibly Puerto Rican thing I learned from my grandpa... or maybe just a Phill thing.

Can I get a verdict?

Steady and Slow Wins the Race

あまだれいしをうがつ

Nice bruise on my dome piece.
Another week of training. Starting from last week Tuesdays we started doing a 20 min run before practice instead of  step sprints and HIIT training. The workouts are less explosive but more of constant movement. We are also working more on technique. It's a nice change and less brutal on the body.

Starting this Thursday I will be playing soccer again with the students. I am actually really looking forward to going. I haven't played since around November. Aside from that I am saving up some cash to build my studio. I wanted to have it up and running in July but it looks like it will take a bit longer.

Found this in my pants. Not fun.
At the pace I am going I say that I am about 2 or 3 months from where I was in 2009. I think my biggest set back is not being able to go to the gym during my lunch break. The most I could do would be to do steps but I am way more busy at this job. Well, I can always make time.

OK, well catch you all next week! I am pretty tired.

Days 5ifty4our to 6ixty1ne

お疲れ!

If you didn't know already Brian won his fight (F'k Yeah!) !!! Not by knockout but he knocked down his opponent twice. First with an elbow and another with a knee. It was a solid fight. It was awesome to see the past two months of training put to work!

I took off Monday and today (Tuesday) from kickboxing but I still trained at home. I did steps in the morning and ran and did steps in the evening. Since we won't be training as rigorous as he have been I plan on doing that kind of work out the days I don't go to practice. I actually just finished and am pretty beat.

I am still being 厳しい on what and when I eat. I finally am able to control my urges to eat more than I should. That being said I live for my cheat days. lol.

Well, I am kinda tired so I am gonna get going. Here are some pics and the YouTube links for Brian's fight!

Later!

Peace

Days 5ifty to 5ifty3ree

Well, tomorrow is officially the last day of stamina training. I feel great but I can't front I am beat.

Saturday was pretty difficult. I was able to do Tabata Intervals but I was advised not to do the regular kicks (my knee is still jacked) and did crescent/axe kicks instead. It still sucked the life force out of my veins. After practice we hit up a Yakiniku place and WENT TO TOWN! The place we randomly hit up was half-price every 3rd Saturday of the month... and what was last Saturday? The 3rd MFk'n Saturday of the month. We KILT'IT.

After eating like the Kings of Old we went back to my place and Li and Nick rolled through. We watched some funny stuff on YouTube and then headed to 高崎 to watch our friend Sho DJ. It was pretty cool. I think I would have had a better time if I drank. I would say one of the worst things about dropping weight is not being able to drink.... nah, that's not true... the worst thing is eating minimal amounts of rice and bread.

Sunday was a chilled-out day. I watched the movie Paul, played WoW with Jeff and Kai, and skyped with 久美子. I started to watch some documentary of an ancient species of fish that has been around since before the dinosaurs,  yeah, a fish that has more or less been unchanged in over 65million years, but I passed out.

Now it's Monday and I have an hour left here at work and not much to do so I decided to post. I have taken some cool pics in the past week however I haven't had the time/motivation to upload them to my PC but I will get them up soon, promise. Tomorrow will be my official last day of fight training so I will be posting only once a week and probably change the layout of this page a bit. I never thought I would say this but I am actually looking forward to running.

From here on out I am going to just be dropping weight and putting together my armature home music studio. This is going to be the first time I ever try to do something with a "for profit" mentality. Not necessarily "for profit" money wise but "for profit" life wise. It's an odd feeling, almost a selfish feeling /trying to be better than who I am feeling. I can't say I like it but I have to try at it.

Well, catch you all later.

Peace
